Flights welcome all sorts of plane passengers onboard, each with varying approaches to what is and isn’t acceptable in public. Some people appear to use flight time as an opportunity to carry out some very strange acts. This certainly was the case for one traveller who as spotted doing something rather unpleasant in a disgusting viral photo spotted on Instagram.
A photo of the incident is rapidly going viral after being shared by Instagram account passengershaming.
The image shows what seems to be a male flier as he sits in his seat in the aircraft cabin.
His face cannot be seen but the bizarre activity he has chosen to do is in full view.
The plane passenger is holding a sock in his hand and lifting it up to the ceiling.
It would appear he is trying to dry the item of clothing under the air vent.
Disgustingly, this would suggest the sock had become wet – although it’s unclear what with.

Some people have speculated that the sock had become so sweaty while he was wearing it that it needed drying off.
Others wondered whether he had visited the bathroom in his sock and stepped in a nasty puddle.
Instagram users have flocked to the photo to share their opinions on the shot.
“Like the air on a plane doesn’t stink enough already!” one person commented.
“Absolutely no home training,” another wrote, while a third added: “This should be a crime!”

One person suggested what might have been going through the passenger’s mind.
“I won’t bring extra socks just in case I sweat thru them cuz I can just dry them on the plane (sic),” they posted.
Others pointed out that the sock was unlikely to dry in such a fashion. “That’s totally going to work!” one quipped.
Some Instagram users had very strong reactions indeed to the unpleasant sight.
“Nasty. They should make a black list with all these ‘people’ and never allow them to fly,” one offered.
The man is far from the only flier to have sparked disgust with his foul actions.
Another flier caused shock when they decided to stretch out their legs in order to get comfortable.
They can be seen resting their feet on their tray table as they recline.
To make matters even worse, they have removed their shoes and socks so their bare skin is touching the table which is used for eating.
“People are just so nasty!” one Instagram user wrote. “Ugh! People eat there you inconsiderate oaf!” another added.
A third penned: “I mean really!!! Disgraceful.”
What’s more, the heavy weight of the feet could well be affecting the flier in front as the tray table is attached to their seat.
“Imagine the extreme turbulence caused by the feet for the person trying to sit in the seat ahead,” one person wrote.
“I’ve been this person and I don’t put up with jerks like this very well.”
