First Look at Godzilla Mockbuster Monster Island Debuting on SyFy This Weekend [Exclusive]

Can’t get out to see Godzilla: King of Monsters this weekend? Don’t worry. The Asylum’s Monster Island is coming to SyFy this Saturday. And it promises to bring all the Kaiju action and giant monster battles you crave. Today, we have some exclusive images from this clash of the titans. The movie was written and directed by Mark Atkins. Here’s what we can expect to see.

As the world tries to stop a giant Kaiju bent on destruction more and more monsters appear – each one more terrible than the last – leaving mankind defenseless until our heroes reach out to a specialist versed in monster lore.

Directed by Mark Atkins from a script he wrote himself, Monster Island stars Toshi Toda, Eric Roberts, Chris Fisher, Adrian Bouchet, Meghan Oberholzer, Natalie Robbie and Donna Cormack. Atkins is responsible for such heavy hitting cult favorites as 6-Headed Shark Attack, Empire of the Sharks, Jack the Giant Killer, Jurassic School and quite a few other mockbusters. He also serves as the cinematographer on most of his movies including Monster Island.

Eric Roberts is no stranger to the land of mockbusters either. Once an acclaimed actor known for such classics as Runaway Train, The Dark Knight and Star 80, Roberts often likes to take on B-Movie style thrillers that must be seen to be believed. And believe it or not, he has over 50 projects current in pre or post-production. Everyone calls The Rock the hardest working man in show business, but Eric Roberts might really own that title all to himself.

You can take a look at some of the exciting images from Monster Island, which were captured by Mark Atkins. They show off the flying beast at the heart of this terrifying tale, along with some of the human actors. There is peril, danger, adventure, and a lot of hardcore monster action to contend with.

Even though Godzilla: King of the Monsters is winning raves from longtime fanes who are calling it a non-stop action spectacle, Monster Island is going to give Gojira a true run for the money, and the best part, you don’t even need to leave the couch to catch these monsters in action. We’re sure the latest Godzilla movie will be a blockbuster hit at the box office. But you might just have a little more fun watching this cheap knock-off deliver the true monster goods.
