Emily Eavis may just have revealed the first confirmed act for Glastonbury 2021, as she invited Jessie Ware to perform next year.

Festivalgoers should have been enjoying the glorious British sunshine at Glasto right now, but the coronavirus pandemic meant the event was cancelled for this year.

All eyes are on which artists will be returning for next year’s show, but Emily appeared to invite Jessie to be the first one as she appeared on her Table Manners podcast.

Emily asked her: ‘Jessie, are you up for coming back next year? I mean, I’m thinking we make a plan now…’

Jessie responded: ‘Absolutely, one hundred percent. I was like there, watching my opportunity to play this album pass me by.

‘Oh my god, absolutely! I now have it, in audible confirmation, I’m coming, I will absolutely be there, with bells on.’

She added that her mum – who co-hosts the podcast with her – would be allowed to come along too if she brought some chicken soup with her.

Emily added that the worst thing about this year’s cancellation is that ticketholders will be missing the gorgeous weather, as Glasto is usually famed for knee-deep mud and rain.

She explained: ‘The worst thing on these sunny June days is it just sort of feels really quiet for us because we’re so used to a buzz at this time. It will be quite a reflective week…

‘The weather forecast is looking really good, it’s so annoying. It’s just typical. I’m like “no!”’

Revellers have been told not to visit Worthy Farm, where the festival is held, despite lockdown measures being eased.

Emily added: ‘We’ll be here on the farm, and the BBC will be as well, so it’s going to be pretty busy.

‘But we’re trying to say to the public: don’t come down. We’re putting that message out there.

‘There are normally a few waifs and strays, but I’m sure it will be OK – most people will stay at home, especially as we’re still in lockdown.’

There’s always 2021… and you’re pretty much guaranteed to be seeing Jessie Ware there, too.
