In tonight’s First Dates, viewers were left seriously confused by diner Ria, from Manchester, after she spoke of having her baby girl.
The 29-year-old was speaking to her date Reece, when she opened up about her daughter – though she left viewers scratching their heads about the timing.
Speaking to footballer Reece, Ria said: “I have a daughter. She’s eight.”
She went on: “I was 19 when I got pregnant, 20 when I had her.”
However, viewers misheard and thought that Ria had said she was “21” when she had her – which obviously caused confusion.
They rushed to Twitter with their observation, checking if they’d heard her correctly.
One said: “19 when she got pregnant. 21 when she had her? Have I missed something?”
Another wrote: “21 minus 19 equals two years. S*** pregnancy.”
A third tweeted: “Got pregnant at 19, got the kid aged 21? Is she an elephant?”
Someone else commented: “19 fell pregnant, 21 gave birth… How in the world?”
A fifth added: “Even if you got pregnant the day before your 20th birthday, that is not biologically possible.”
And a sixth said: “The maths is way off tonight. Pregnant at 19 had her at 21.”
A standard pregnancy in humans lasts for nine months, so there’s no wonder viewers were confused after mishearing Ria.
Elsewhere on tonight’s episode, funeral director and mortician Byron went on a date with Lexie.
But it turned out there was no romance there, as Lexie said she would see Byron again – but only as a friend.
First Dates airs Thursdays at 10pm on Channel 4
