The First Dates restaurant sees all sorts of romantic hopefuls coming through its doors.
But viewers couldn’t believe one particular singleton’s story after watching Tuesday night’s episode.
Melissa Denton dropped jaws when she revealed that she had married herself in a £4000 pound wedding ceremony last year.
Paired off with masseur Damian, she explained that she was “cheating on herself” by dating on the show.
Explaining her decision, she said that the idea came to her when she was dumped by her ex on Christmas Eve.
After two divorces and a string of failed relationships, Melissa realised: “I’ve neglected myself.”
She decided to wed herself in a bid to learn to love herself again.
The 42-year-old explained: “It’s so empowering and it’s such a sense of fulfilment.”

Mum-of-two Melissa invited 130 friends and family members to her big day, which took place in a village hall in Dorset.
Viewers were utterly gobsmacked by the unusual marital status, taking to Twitter to express their confusion.
One said: “Married to herself? This dude needs to run.”
A second chimed: “Damian seems totally puzzled!”

Luckily, her date for the night was open-minded about the strange confession.
At the end of the evening, Damian asked her on a second date — but not before making a few cheeky digs at the ring on her finger.
He said: “I still like this idea of a threesome, but I wouldn’t want to break up a happy relationship!”
