Fiona Wade, 40, and her new husband Simon Cotton, 41, tied the knot in front of family and friends a few weeks ago. However, the Emmerdale star has since revealed the rain was so “bad” on her big day it resulted in her wedding planner driving through “mudslides” and carrying her to the aisle.
The actress spilled on how she made sure she was fashionably late to the ceremony but was in a near-miss disaster ahead of her nuptials.
Speaking to this week’s OK! Magazine, she divulged: “I was ready pretty early but I had to be at least 10 minutes late, and then we had pictures and my mum hadn’t finished her make-up.
“The rain was bad! My wedding planner ended up driving through mud slides down to the marquee and carrying me to the aisle!”
Fortunately, the small-screen star made it to the ceremony without any fashion mishaps.

Simon popped the question in January, with Fiona breaking the exciting news of their engagement on Instagram.
In view of her 64,000 followers, the small-screen star gushed: “Two days ago this beautiful man asked me to be his wife. There has never been an easier answer to a question…. Yes! Feel so incredibly blessed. Wishing you all a wonderful 2019 & so much love for the year ahead.”
Her beau also gushed about their nuptials, as he told the publication: “They say when you meet the person you’re meant to be with you know. I had started to give up on that ideal and then I met Fi. She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen.”
Fiona added: “It took me longer than Simon. I don’t fall into relationships easily, but I wanted to be really sure. Everything with Simon is just so easy. He’s also amazing with my mum, which is really important.”
The ITV star recently teased the countdown to her wedding after she shared a sweet snap of the couple on the picture-sharing site.
In the photo, Fiona could be seen embracing her beau with a hug and a kiss.
She captioned the post: “Six weeks away from my and I cannot wait for you to be home now. #countdown #wedding #love @simoncottonactor.”
Fiona’s Emmerdale co-star’s Charley Webb (who plays Debbie Dingle) and her husband Matthew Wolfenden (David Metcalfe) were also in attendance at the ceremony.
The couple, who recently welcomed their third son, Ace, back in July, enjoyed the late night party festivities.
Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV at 7pm.
