The build up to the release of FIFA 20 is in full flow, with the new game mode Volta Football one of the hottest topics up for discussion.
As it is brand new for FIFA 20, every player will go in equal, but thankfully, there are a whole load of tips out there as to how to be successful at the mode when FIFA drops in September.
RealSport dissected a stream from FIFA influencer ChuBoi to see what you will need for Volta this year.
Controls
With basic controls, there are not really many differences between playing a regular game of FIFA, or a game on Volta. However, there is one key difference.
If you hold in the triggers whilst you move, your player will perform a skill move. This was seen in FIFA three or four years ago.
Holding down both triggers and direct your analog stick towards the goal will bring out the playground favourite kneeling header.These skill moves aren’t just random either. There is a whole range of moves which all have their own unique controls.
For instance, so long as your player has a minimum of 4* skill moves, holding down R3/RS will perform a flick, with the flicks differentiating depending on the direction you hold your analog stick.

Use the walls
Another key aspect of VOLTA which you need to use to your advantage is the walls. The walls on the cage work extremely well for players who want to play the ball around an opposition player, FIFA Street esque.
So whilst direct passes to your teammates are still available, those indirect passes off the wall will also be very handy when keeping possession.
This isn’t just useful for ground passes either. You can use lofted passes as well.
But you need to be wise when you select which wall you’re going to play off. The bottom wall is relatively soft, so the ball doesn’t bounce that much. The top wall however is much harder, so playing off that will make the ball ping across the cage.
There is also the option for most stadiums to select whether or not walls can be used in the game.
Taunt your opponent
Now this isn’t something which is going to help you win your matches, but it’s sure to rile your opponent.
There is a whole range of taunts available in Volta. Stand by the ball and press L1/LT or R2/RB and your player will choose a random taunt to perform in front of your opposition.

There is over 20 in the game, from dance moves to sarcastic applause and everything in-between. This is a cool feature which is sure to trigger your opponent.
Celebrations
Like with the taunts, there is also a whole load of new goal celebrations that have been designed specifically for Volta.
Again these are randomly selected by pressing the random celebration controls you would use in 11v11, you can however run up to and celebrate off the cage, that’s pretty cool.
Rotating positions
Something to remember when selecting your squad is that players do not stick to one position, they rotate as the game goes on.
So it is vital that you pick players who can move well, but who have a range of attributes. So don’t just go all out with those attackers, sticking a Pogba or De Bruyne in there will be far more beneficial.
Buzzer beaters
If you play NBA 2K, you know that there is no better feeling than a buzzer beater winner, getting that shot off with just milliseconds left and seeing it drain through the basket for the win.
Well, you can now do the same in Volta. EA have confirmed that so long as you get your shot off before the clock hits zero, that shot will still be active even if the whistle goes before it hits the back of the net.

So be sure to get that shot off even if you think there’s not enough time left, because you just never know.
Chemistry
Chemistry is quite complex. There is a range of ways in which you can improve your chemistry, based both on formations and preferred courts.
Each player in your squad will have a home turf and a preferred formation. So if you have two players from Rio de Janeiro who prefer the squared diamond formation, your team will play a lot better than if your players are from all over the world.
Of course playing players in their preferred position will also help your chemistry. So whilst players will interchange positions during the game, starting a midfielder in the centre of the park and a striker up top will boost the chemistry significantly.
Earn players by winning
The most efficient way of improving your squad is simple. Win matches.
Every time you win a game you will be able to select a player from the oppositions squad to add to your own, with a max squad capacity of ten players, so there will be some difficult decisions to make.

Players will boost chemistry in different ways too, so whilst you may have higher-rated players in your squad, selecting players who match your chemistry styles and home turf will be far more beneficial than rating.
Rules
3v3 and 4v4 Rush are very similar, the main difference between these two modes and the standard Volta modes is that there are no keepers, meaning there are no penalties, free kicks, corners etc.
In 4v4, 5v5 and Fustal there are keepers, meaning penalties and corners etc are implemented.
Another difference between rush and normal modes is that in rush, your shooting is manual, whilst in the normal modes assisted shooting is active.
There is a higher threshold for fouls, so you can still foul. But rather than a free kick, play will continue with the game restarting in the spot where the foul was committed.
In Futsal, there is also the accumulative fouls rule where if you commit five fouls, you will concede a penalty from the secondary penalty marker.
