FIFA 20: Lazio player ratings predictions – Milinkovic-Savic, Immobile, Acerbi & more

Simone Inzaghi remains at the helm for another season in the blue half of the Stadio Olimpico as Le Aquila will be aiming for a return to the UEFA Champions League next year.

I Biancocelesti are competing in the Supercoppa Italia and UEFA Europa League alongside their regular league and cup duties in 2019-20.

Lazio have brought in over £30 million worth of players, the biggest names being that of Manuel Lazzari (£10m), Denis Vavro (£9.5m) and Jony (£1.8m). A similar total value of players left the club too, but were young talents for the most part, consisting of the likes of Pedro Neto and Bruno Jordao to Wolves and Alessandro Murgia to SPAL, so the quality of the first team players has gone up.

With not much change in the first team, Inzaghi’s men are likely to remain playing the 3-5-2 formation which saw them finish 8th in Serie A last season. Let’s see how they’ll line-up!

Thomas Strakosha (OVR 80 – 82)

Position: GK

Age: 24

Country: Albania

Despite Lazio dropping from 5th to 8th in the league, the number of goals they conceded last season actually fell from 2017-18. Thomas Strakosha had another great season in goal, and ended FIFA 19 with an 82 overall rating, up 2 from the start of the game. I think he’ll maintain that 82 overall for the start of 82.

Luiz Felipe (OVR 73 – 78)

Position: CB

Age: 22

Country: Brazil

Despite the signing of Denis Vavro from FC Copenhagen, Luiz Felipe is likely to maintain his centre-back starting position. The young Brazilian began FIFA 19 with a 73 overall, but was boosted to 77 and gold status by the end of the game’s life cycle. As he’s only 22, I believe he’ll begin FIFA 20 with a 78 overall rating with boosts to his physical and passing stats.

Stefan Radu (OVR 80 – 80)

Position: CB

Age: 32

Country: Romania

Club veteran Stefan Radu will likely keep his 80 overall rating for FIFA 20. The Romanian had another solid season at the back and popped up with a few important goals too, four in the league in total, so his heading could go up. As he’s now over 30, his pace will drop just the one point, even if it isn’t deserved.

Francesco Acerbi (OVR 82 – 84)

Position: CB

Age: 31

Country: Italy

Francesco Acerbi enjoyed a solid first season at Lazio, with the Italian being boosted 2 overall from 82 to 84 by the end of FIFA 19. I believe he’ll get a slight boost from his final FIFA 19 rating for the start of FIFA 20, with his shooting and passing going a few points up. He could begin the game with a 85 overall, but I think he’ll remain 84.

Manuel Lazzari (OVR 76 – 81)

Position: RM

Age: 25

Country: Italy

Manuel Lazzari replaces Adam Marusic as Lazio’s first-choice right-midfielder for this season. The Italian winger had an excellent campaign last season, assisting 8 times in Serie A for an average SPAL side. He was up to 80 overall by the end of FIFA 19, so I expect him to begin FIFA 20 with an 81 overall, with big upgrades to his passing and dribbling.

Marco Parolo (OVR 82 – 81)

Position: CDM, CM

Age: 34

Country: Italy

Marco Parolo enjoyed a decent season in 2018-19, but a slight drop in his assists and goals will reflect negatively on his overall rating. The Italian midfielder dropped from 4 goals and 5 assists to as many goals and 3 assists over the past season. As he’s 34, his pace will also see a downgrade, dropping him 1 overall point to 81 for the start of FIFA 20.

Lucas Leiva (OVR 83 – 84)

Position: CDM

Age: 32

Country: Brazil

Lucas Leiva may be heading towards the twilight of his career, but the Brazilian received an upgrade up to 84 overall by the end of FIFA 19. Lucas assisted twice during 2018-19, but it’s his defensive work which earns him the upgrade he carries into FIFA 20. His passing, dribbling and defensive stats go up, but his pace drops a couple of points, due to being 32.

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (85 – 85)

Position: CAM, CM

Age: 24

Country: Serbia

Although he was down from 12 goals to 5 last season, Sergej Milinković-Savić will receive an upgrade for FIFA 20, albeit a small one. In FIFA 19, he had a potential of 90 overall in career mode, which makes him a very hot prospect. The Serbian international is the link between the midfield and attack in Lazio’s side and will likely play a big part in any of their success this campaign.

Senad Lulic (OVR 78 – 77)

Position: LM

Age: 33

Country: Bosnia

Club captain Senad Lulic is set for another season at left-midfield, despite the arrival of Jony in the summer. I predict Jony to have a higher overall, but I’d be surprised if Lulic didn’t start the season in the first XI. Lulic was down to 4 goals and 1 assist in 2018-19 from 3 goals and 6 assists the previous campaign. He was up to 79 overall by the end of FIFA 19, but I think he’ll be down to 77 for the start of FIFA 20, with drops to his pace, passing and dribbling.

Ciro Immobile (OVR 87 – 85)

Position: ST

Age: 29

Country: Italy

It seems very harsh giving a striker of Immobile’s quality a downgrade, but that’s what will likely happen for FIFA 20. Immobile scored 15 goals and assisted 6 times last season, but that’s a big drop from his 29 league goals and 8 assists in 2017-18. His shooting, passing and dribbling will take a hit, as he drops 2 overall points, but still finds himself as the joint-highest rated in the team at 85.

Luis Alberto (OVR 82 – 80)

Position: ST, CF, CAM, CM

Age: 26

Country: Spain

Luis Alberto will be a very useful squad player for Lazio, as he’s a Swiss army knife when it comes to the amount of positions he can play. Lazio’s goals scored plummeted last season, and Alberto’s stats reflect that, as he dropped from 11 goals and 13 assists in 2017-18, to 4 goals and 5 assists last season. As a result, he’s down to an 80 overall, down 2 points from his FIFA 19 rating.

On the Bench

Goalkeeper: Silvio Proto (OVR 76 – 75) remains at the club as back-up goalkeeper but will likely get a small downgrade to 75 overall due to being 36-years-old.

Defence: Denis Vavro (OVR 72 – 75) gets a healthy upgrade after joining in the summer while Wallace (OVR 76 – 76) remains static from FIFA 19.

Midfield: New Signing Jony (OVR 75 – 79) should start FIFA 20 with an upgrade after joining for an incredible season at Alaves. Jordan Lukaku (OVR 77 – 75) couldn’t break into the first team often during last season, so drops a couple overall points as a result.

Attack: Joaquin Correa (OVR 80 – 82) could get the nod ahead of Alberto up front, but will definitely begin FIFA 20 with a higher overall. Felipe Caicedo (OVR 78 – 80) also receives an upgrade after a better season last time around.
