FIFA 20: Gareth Bale’s rating is set to decrease yet again

Gareth Bale is renowned for his extreme pace, ability to shoot from long range and swerving free kicks.

However, the Real Madrid fans have held high expectations of the right winger since he joined in 2013; has he lived up to them or has he been a disappointment?

We here at RealSport predict Gareth Bale’s FIFA 20 rating that will launch on September 24.

Gareth & Real Madrid

On 1 September 2013, Spanish club Real Madrid announced that they had reached an agreement for transferring Bale, signing a six-year deal in a then world record deal.

The deal was for €100.8 million (£85.1 million), which was above Cristiano Ronaldo’s record fee of £80 million (€94 million).

Bale finished his debut season in 2013/14 with 22 goals and 16 assists in all competitions. Real Madrid’s attacking trio of Bale, Benzema and Cristiano, dubbed the BBC, finished the season with 97 goals.

What changes will we see to Bale’s card in FIFA 20?

However, Bale has suffered many injuries and had conflicts with both the fans and team over the last five seasons at Real Madrid.

An example of this was in a match against Espanyol on January 10, 2015, Bale was booed by a section of Madrid fans who judged him as being selfish in shooting at the goal and missing rather than not passing to Ronaldo which would have led to an easy goal.

Bale has struggled to stay ever present in the Real Madrid team and following Ronaldo’s departure to Juventus, and the replacement of manager Zinedine Zidane by Julen Lopetegui.

Bale finished his 2018/19 season with 14 goals, 7 assists in 42 games. Which wasn’t great for the right winger.

Competition

Bale has the ability to score and create goals which proved decisive over his past six years at Real Madrid and he has been unstoppable at times.

However, Bale had also managed to miss 100 games due to injury which allowed the club fans to further highlight their infamous disgust towards the player.

Although he was able to score a respectable 102 goals at a ratio of nearly one every other game, this is a modest return compared to fellow elite winger-forwards.

For example, Ronaldo has scored 277 club goals since 2013, Messi has scored 290 goals and Neymar 156 goals. Each of these is who Bale competes with to be one of the best forwards in the world.

Real Madrid ended their long pursuit of Eden Hazard on Friday when they agreed to sign the Belgium winger from Chelsea on a five-year contract for a reported €100 million (£89 million), making him their joint-record signing along with Bale.

This is not good news for the Welsh winger, as this provides further competition for the new 2019/20 season, which Bale will look to redeem himself with the club.

Hazard has proved his worth for the British club Chelsea, but will he be able to do the same for Real Madrid?

Still the star for Wales?

Bale may be the centre of conflict with fans at Real Madrid, but this is not the case with his national home side Wales, where he is loved and idolised.

At 16 years and 315 days, Bale became the youngest player to play for Wales and is now their top goal scorer with 31 goals combined in all matches. However, as the star grows older will his abilities to keep scoring goals fade and could this lead to an early retirement for the successful footballer?

His long career for Wales could be coming to a close, and could we see this effect his FIFA rating in FIFA 20.

Past His Prime?

Although once considered being one of the best forwards in the world, will we see Bale’s FIFA 20 rating go up or come down?
Would a transfer from Real Madrid been good for Bale?

We here at RealSport believe that with the rocky seasons that he has had for Real Madrid, Bale could see his base rated card decreased from a 88 rating to 86 at the beginning of FIFA 20, with the likes of both Ronaldo and Messi remaining the same at 94.
