FIFA 20 Career Mode: Best young right backs (RB) to sign – Alexander-Arnold, Wan-Bissaka & more

The number of world class players who play as an out and out right back are really quite limited. It may be a better option to sign a younger defender and help them grow to reach their potential.

How to choose the best right backs (RBs) on FIFA 20 career mode

Here we are looking at the best young right backs (RB) and right wing backs (RWB) aged between 20 and 23 years old.

They will all start the 2019/20 season with a rating of at least 75, with the potential to improve to at least 80.

These young defenders may start off as fringe players, but with the right nurturing, they will break their way in to your first team and in to the top echelon of world football. Be ready to pay the big bucks for these high potential prospects, but they will soon make it worth your while.

For a full list of all the best young right backs (RBs) on Career Mode, look at the table at the end of this page.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (OVR 83 – POT 89)

Age: 20

Position(s): RB

Club: Liverpool

Country: England

Value: £28.8 million (Release Clause: £59 million)

Wage: £70,000 a week

Trent Alexander-Arnold is a testament to the Liverpool youth system. Having worked his way up the age groups he is now Liverpool’s starting right back and considered one of the best in his position in the world. He made 16 assists from his advanced full back position for Liverpool last season and was instrumental in winning the Champions League.

His stats reflect his playmaking prowess from the right channel with a crossing rating of 88. The Englishman also has 83 rated standing tackle, 81 rated sprint speed and a brilliant potential of 89. His £59 million release clause seems lower than his market value so snap him up quick; you’ll have to offer an increase on his £70,000 a week wage.

Odriozola (OVR 84 – POT 88)

Age: 23

Position(s): RB

Club: Real Madrid

Country: Spain

Value: £15.8 million (Release Clause: £33.5 million)

Wage: £104,000 a week

After impressing at Real Sociedad, Odriozola won himself a £27 million move to Real Madrid in 2018. The young Spaniard has made 14 La Liga appearances in his first season with Los Blancos; impressive for a 23 year old competing against Carvajal for his place.

Odriozola has decent all round stats for a right back, with 90 sprint speed, 81 crossing, 79 sliding tackle and 78 standing tackle. It’s easy to see why his potential is 85. The Real Madrid man will set you back £28 million and his excessive £104,000 a week wage demands.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (OVR 79 – POT 88)

Age: 21

Position(s): RB

Club: Manchester United

Country: England

Value: £15.8 million (Release Clause: £33.1 million)

Wage: £64,000 a week

In an average to poor season for Palace, which saw them finish 12th in the Premier League, Wan-Bissaka was a stand-out performer playing in 35 of their Premier League games. His quality did not go unnoticed and he moved to Man United for £49.5 million over the summer.

The United man has strong defending stats of 86 sliding tackle and 83 standing tackle, combined with a wicked sprint speed of 88. The best part is his release clause is just £33.1 million, meaning you could steal him from Man United immediately for a cut price. You may have to offer him more than his £64,000 a week wage to lure him away from Manchester.

Lukas Klostermann (OVR 79 – POT 85)

Age: 23

Position(s): RB, LB

Club: RB Leipzig

Country: Germany

Value: £14 million (Release Clause: £26.5 million)

Wage: £39,000 a week

Having played 133 times for the Leipzig club, Klostermann is already an experienced right back at just 23 years old, occasionally filling in at centre back or left back.

The German has a strong potential of 85, and currently possesses ratings of 80 standing tackle, 79 sliding tackle and 90 sprint speed. His release clause of £26.5 million is a fair price, but you will have to increase his wages to £55,000 a week.

Denzel Dumfries (OVR 78 – POT 82)

Age: 23

Position(s): RB

Club: PSV

Country: Netherlands

Value: £10.8 million (Release Clause: £15.8 million)

Wage: £14,000 a week

Having signed for PSV last summer, Dumfries had a great first season with the Dutch club. They finished second in the Eredivisie, but conceded the least goals out of any team in the league (26 goals). With 34 Eredivisie appearances last season, Dumfries played a huge part in this success.

The Dutch full back is a physical specimen, with 90 stamina, 87 strength and 89 jumping. So long as you work on his adequate tackling stats (78 standing tackle and 75 sliding tackle), he could be an intimidating figure on the right flank for your team. You will have to pay the Dutchman’s £15.8 million release clause and improve his wage to £28,000 a week for his services.

Youcef Atal (OVR 77 – POT 86)

Age: 23

Position(s): RB, RWB, RM

Club: OGC Nice

Country: Algeria

Value: £11.3 million (Release Clause: £24.8 million)

Wage: £23,000 a week

Atal signed for Nice last summer for just £2.7m. He has since had an impressive first season with the French side, even managing to score six times, despite playing most of his games as a right back. It’s fair to say his market value has increased.

The Algerian defender will cost you £20 million and you will have to improve his wages to £30,000 a week. For this price, you’ll get a right back who does well in an advanced position, with stats of 87 sprint speed, 84 dribbling and 77 crossing.

Fabricio Bustos (OVR 77 – POT 84)

Age: 23

Position(s): RB, RWB, RM

Club: Independiente

Country: Argentina

Value: £9.9 million (Release Clause: £15.8 million)

Wage: £16,000 a week

Bustos is a product of the Independiente youth system and has seen his first team game time grow steadily over the last few years. He has amassed 89 appearances for the Argentinian side and helped them qualify for the Copa Sudamericana last season.

The Argentine is fast enough to keep pace with an attacker owning a sprint speed of 87 and has decent tackling stats of 76 standing tackle and 75 sliding tackle. Bustos will cost you his £15.8m release clause and increased wages of £20,000 a week.

Noussair Mazraoui (OVR 77 – POT 84)

Age: 21

Position(s): RB, CM

Club: Ajax

Country: Morocco

Value: £9.9 million (Release Clause: £15.8 million)

Wage: £12,000 a week

Mazraoui was instrumental in Ajax’s fantastic 2018/19 season. The Dutch team won the Eredivisie, as well as a domestic cup and they reached the semi-final of the Champions League. With 28 Eredivisie games and 11 Champions League appearances, it is evident that Mazraoui played his part.

The Moroccan has a solid set of stats, including 83 sprint speed, 83 dribbling and 81 short passing. With a potential of 84, his release clause of £15.8 million is a fair price, but you may have to increase his current wages.

Joakim Maehle (OVR 77 – POT 84)

Age: 22

Position(s): RB

Club: KRC Genk

Country: Denmark

Value: £9.9 million (Release Clause: £16.8 million)

Wage: £13,000 a week

Maehle made 30 league appearances last season, helping KRC Genk win the Belgium first division trophy. Perhaps he is ready for a new challenge?

He has fantastic physical stats of 92 sprint speed and 95 stamina; if you work on his 77 rated standing tackle, 72 sliding tackle and 73 crossing, he could become a dangerous right back for your team. The Dane will set you back £14 million and £18,000 a week in wages.

Davide Calabria (OVR 77 – POT 87)

Age: 22

Position(s): RB

Club: AC Milan

Country: Italy

Value: £11.7 million (Release Clause: £22.2 million)

Wage: £26,000 a week

Calabria worked his way up from the Milan youth system in to the starting line-up and has seen a steady growth in his first team game time. With 26 Serie A appearances last season, is he ready to move to a new club that will give him more first team chances?

The Italian has decent ratings of 78 standing tackle, 77 sliding tackle and 79 crossing. If these key elements are worked on in the training ground, the Italian could become a top class right back. His release clause of £22.2 million and wage bill of £26,000 a week are more than affordable.
