Fearne Cotton has described the ‘slight out-of-body experience’ of being asked out by singer Robbie Williams live on air.
The 39-year-old was interviewing Robbie at Live 8 in Hyde Park in 2005 when he asked her out on a date, after hearing she was ‘newly single’.
The TV and radio presenter, who has been married to husband Jesse Wood since 2014, told The Times the moment was ‘surreal’.
‘When Robbie Williams asked me out on air I was like, oh my God, what’s going on?’ she remembered.
‘I was so young. I’ve always had a slight out-of-body experience when anything surreal happens like that. It’s one of the things I’ll bore the grandkids stiff about, pretending that I used to be cool.
‘I’ve known Robbie a long time. We’re friends now.’
Fearne, known for her work on Celebrity Juice and Top of the Pops, is mum to Rex, seven, and Honey, five, with husband Jesse, while Robbie has gone on to have four children with wife Ayda Field.
In other Fearne news, the star recently spoke of how the music festival scene might look in the future after coronavirus.
She told Metro.co.uk: ‘I think everybody wants to know [what’s happening] – my husband’s in a band so he’s like “hello, when am I ever going to gig again?”
‘I think everybody’s got a certain anxiety about it as nobody does know what’s going on.’
She continued: ‘It’s completely and utterly unknown and I think there possibly could be a slight anxiety from people who don’t want to be in a big crowd if they are vulnerable or have had previous health issues.
‘I think certainly the music industry wants to get back on its feet and start up again and do its thing but it’s got to be safety first, so God knows.’
