Fast Charge ep. 30: ZenFone 7, Fairphone 3+ & Apple v Epic

This week on Fast Charge, Dom Preston, Alex ‘Toddy’ Walker-Todd, and Lewis Painter give their thoughts on the Asus ZenFone 7, the modular upgrade to the Fairphone 3+, and the ongoing legal spat between Apple and Epic.

The Zenfone 7 and 7 Pro are here, complete with the flippy camera module that Lewis loved so, so much in last year’s ZenFone 6. This time around the pair sport serious flagship specs – with a price hike to match, but we’re not sold on the upgrade to the Pro. And why aren’t we getting either of them here in the UK?

At least we are getting the Fairphone 3+, a modest upgrade on last year’s Fairphone 3 that focuses instead on upping the proportion of the phone made from recycled materials. In a smart move, the new camera module is also available as a modular upgrade for existing Fairphone 3 owners, reducing waste further.

Then there’s Epic. After the company tempted fate by adding its own in-app payments to Fortnite its flagship game has been pulled from both Google and Apple’s app stores, triggering a legal feud that just had its first concrete ramification for current players: anyone on an Apple device won’t get the game’s new Marvel content season.

You can watch it all in the video embedded up above, or head straight to YouTube to watch it there (and subscribe if you fancy!).
