Harry Styles arrived at the Brit Awards red carpet on Tuesday night looking as stylish as ever, after fears he may pull out following a robbery at knifepoint.
The former One Direction star, 26, was confirmed to still be performing at the Brits following the terrifying ordeal on Valentine’s Day, where robbers got away with some of his cash.
The singer chose a dark suit for the occasion, with a white shirt with a scalloped collar underneath, over which he wore a purple knitted jumper with a pearl necklace. He completed the look with black and white shoes.
Fans were quick to notice a black ribbon on his left lapel, which is universally known as a symbol of mourning, which they took to be in reference to the tragic death of his former flame, Caroline Flack.
They took to Twitter to share their thoughts on why he chose to wear a black ribbon, tweeting: ‘harry styles has a black ribbon in remembrance of caroline.. watch me start crying.’
Others added: ‘i have a feeling he’s wearing the black ribbon in memory of caroline. generally, the black ribbon is in an honor of someone who passed away. just my thoughts. either way, he looks stunning (:’
Love Island host Caroline was found dead aged 40 after taking her own life on 15 February at her home, and although Harry has yet to address her death publicly, fans assumed this was a subtle tribute to her.
Harry was also mugged at knifepoint a day before her death, with sources telling the Mirror: ‘He actually played it pretty cool, quickly giving the assailant cash, keeping himself and the guy calm and getting the situation over with.
‘Understandably though it left him very shaken up afterwards.’
The Metropolitan Police confirmed the incident to The Mirror, saying: ‘ Police are investigating reports of a knifepoint robbery in Hampstead.
‘Officers were contacted on Saturday, 15 February regarding the incident which happened at 23.50hrs on Friday, 14 February.
‘It was reported that a man in his 20s was approached by another man and threatened him with a knife. The victim was not injured however, cash was taken from him. No arrests and enquiries are ongoing.’
Harry will be performing at Tuesday night’s Brit Awards ceremony.
