Fans spot Dr. Strange continuity error in Avengers: Endgame and have no clue what’s going on

It only seems like yesterday that Avengers: Endgame was dominating cinemas but now that it’s out on DVD, fans have started going back over the film again.

Fans on social media have been spotting exciting Easter eggs they didn’t see when they first watched the movie, like nods to the X-men and that cameo appearance from Captain America villain Dr Arnim Zola.

But one fan has gone even further and found an actual continuity error, reports Digital Spy.

Or what looks like one.

Cast your mind back to the moment when Thor, Iron Man and the rest of the gang are in a bit of a sticky spot as they fight against the evil Thanos and his army.

There’s a point when one of Dr Strange’s sling ring portals pops up behind Captain America, played by Chris Evans, and the heroes start walking through.

When Dr. Strange, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, finally appears in the movie he isn’t wearing the Eye of Agamotto.

This is perfectly fine and still makes sense at this point because Strange gave up the treasure, containing the Time Stone, to save Tony Stark in Avengers: Infinity War.

But – and this is where it gets weird – when later on in that same battle scene the heroes gather to fight Thanos and Captain America shouts ‘Avengers assemble’, the Eye of Agamotto is hanging around Strange’s neck once again.

What?

The fan, who calls himself ironman.tw, pointed this all out on Instagram, and Marvel fans didn’t miss the opportunity to weigh in on how Strange would suddenly have the Eye again if he had given it up before.

One user suggested that the Strange who gave up the stone in Infinity War was a Strange from the future. To be fair there was A LOT of time travel in these films.

Another fan made the valid point that Strange didn’t actually hand over the necklace when he gave Thanos the stone in Infinity War.

Perhaps the best option was this person’s response: ‘It’s a fantasy movie. Stop looking for a ‘logical’ explanation.’

Fair point.
