Family of 23 sit down for traditional Christmas dinner complete with crackers and party hats 11 WEEKS early

MOST people wouldn’t have even thought about digging out the festive decorations quite yet.

But one family has sat down for their Christmas dinner – complete with crackers and party hats – a whole eleven weeks early.

David Wallis and his 22 relatives enjoyed a traditional festive meal at a local pub yesterday – just like they have done for the seven previous years for a very good reason.

It’s so the head of the family, who will be running the Ice Maze ride at Hull Fair from today, can spend time with his eleven grandchildren before the Christmas fairground season starts.

Speaking to Hull Live, he said: “We do it every year.

“We all travel for the fairgrounds and we do the length and breadth of the country and this particular fair, Hull Fair, is when we are all together, all of my kids and grandkids, so we decided because at Christmas time we are usually open, we will have a meal here.”

The 23-strong family went to the Millhouse restaurant in Skidby for their Christmas dinner.

Of David’s eleven grandchildren, there are eight granddaughters and three grandsons.

Such is their commitment to the tradition that only one was unable to make it up to the Yorkshire city on this occasion.

He added that Hull was a “special” place for them and other “fair families”.

They’re not the the first family to get in the Christmas spirit early.

Last month, we told you about the festive-mad mums who’ve already put the tree up, wrapped the presents and ordered the festive food.

And we also revealed how a Christmas-mad mum was roasted for putting her decorations up in September.

The woman proudly showed off her festive-themed DIY fireplace on Facebook – but people were left baffled as to why she had got it up with three months still to go.

Earlier today, we told you how a mum spends £1,700 buying hundreds of presents for her kids and refuses to let people “guilt trip” her about it.

We also revealed how a furious mum has slammed her “spiteful” mother-in-law for cutting her son’s hair without asking.

And a desperate mum has enrolled her son, four, in Britain’s Naughtiest Nursery after admitting she’s scared of her child who regularly lashes out and strangles her.
