Expectant mums are transformed into Disney princesses by photographer to celebrate their ‘pregnancy magic’

THERE’S no denying that pregnancy is a pretty magical time in a mother’s life and something that makes you feel capable of taking on (a whole new) world.

That said, one savvy photographer is perfectly capturing the magic of pregnancy by transforming mums-to-be into Disney princesses for an unforgettable maternity photoshoot.

Brazilian photographer Vanessa Firme, 39, has dressed expectant mothers up as Cinderella, Jasmine, Bella and even Fiona from Shrek over the past few years.

The Rio De Janeiro-based maternity photographer believes the stunning photos are a way of continuing the princesses’ stories after their fairytale endings.

She told Good Morning America: “These photos tell the mothers that they can all be whoever they want to be.

“It shows what happens after happily ever after.”

What’s more, Vanessa stumbled upon her Disney princess maternity photo shoot niche completely by accident.

Speaking to the Indian Express, Vanessa explained how maternity-wear designer Amada Mae gave her a dress inspired by Beauty and the Beast to coincide with the release of the live-action move in 2017.

It just so happened that the mum-to-be she was working with at the time was planning on calling her baby daughter Bela which is almost identical to the heroine’s name.

Vanessa said: “I thought how magical it would be for her when she saw her own mother dressed as the princess.

“People loved it and we decided to make more princesses.”

Since then, Vanessa has photographed expectant mums dressed as Snow White with an apple, Cinderella with her matching blue hairband and The Little Mermaid’s Ariel.

And the shoots have become so successful that Vanessa has even photographed mums after they’ve had their babies – including one new parent who dressed up as Belle with her baby boy as the beast.

Meanwhile, other mums have felt so empowered by pregnancy that they’ve even dressed as Wonderwoman for their maternity shoot.
