Exhibitor registration for Gamescom 2020 is now open.
“The entire gaming industry and hundreds of thousands of fans from all over the world will gather together at Gamescom,” says a press release from the organisation. “Companies interested in participating have been able to book their trade fair presence since 25 November 2019 – and at the best conditions. The early bird offer ends on 13 February 2020. Application forms for Gamescom 2020 are available at gamescom.global/application.”
In 2020, Gamescom will run from Tuesday, August 25th to Saturday, August 29th once again at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany. With 1,153 exhibitors last year – up 10 per cent year-over-year – across 218,000 square metres (up 8 per cent YoY) at Gamescom 2019, the organisers are anticipating “a high demand for exhibition opportunities […] for the coming year”.
Gamescom 2019 reached more people than ever before, including 373,000 visitors from more than 100 countries, 30,000+ of which were trade visitors. A press release from the organisation also revealed “millions of gamers” joined by livestream, including thousands who tuned into the event’s inaugural Opening Night Live show.
Of course, Gamescom isn’t just about the expo. More than 90 speeches were given to the 3,000 visitors attending the preceding Devcom conference, which included keynotes by Cristian Pana from Ubisoft Massive and Randy Varnell from Gearbox, and 700 participants from the sports, media and esports industries “used SPOBIS Gaming & Media for an informative exchange and intensive networking”.
The organisers also report more than 100 million related videos have been accessed worldwide, and this figure is “still strongly increasing”.
“The international relevance of Gamescom has never been greater than in this year. Especially our new show, ‘Gamescom: Opening Night Live’, has already shown with its premiere how strong the worldwide interest in Gamescom is,” Felix Falk, managing director of game – The German Games Industry Association, said when Gamescom 2019 came to a close. “With ‘Gamescom now’, we have also created a gathering point at which players can acquire an overview of the many new products and events on the fairgrounds. As the largest games event in the world, Gamescom this year primarily stood for many new products, for the wonderful community and for themes such as inclusion and diversity.”
