Executive recruitment firm rebrands and appoints new joint managing partner

Newly rebranded executive recruitment firm MM Search has appointed award-winning headhunter Derek MacFeate as joint managing partner.

He joins the company known until today as MG Search after leaving Page Group, where he was senior partner and known as one of the firm’s Top 10 UK Performers. He will work alongside founder Ken Morrice at the Glasgow-based firm which also has an Aberdeen office.

MacFeate said: “I am delighted to have joined Ken Morrice and his team to be part of a drive to take headhunting into the digital era. At MM Search we are in a position of expectation meets reality, our experience shows that we know what top performing businesses need. Trust is at the top of the agenda, executive search teams are entrusted to identify the next leader, managing director or chairperson of an organisation.

“However, this is a challenging time for the executive search industry, not least because we have many political and economic tests ahead of us but because we as an industry are in a period of change. The uncertain economic climate will divide the industry – there is no space for a middle ground, those that perform well will shine and those that don’t won’t. We see ourselves as the former, unrivalled cumulative experience and can-do attitude stand us apart from the rest.”

Joint managing partner Morrice said: “As one of Scotland’s most experienced, trusted and celebrated headhunters, Derek is a natural fit to build on our ambitions for accelerated growth that matches our client expectations following a very successful first year in business.”

MacFeate’s appointment follows the arrival of McDougall Johnstone managing director Ian McDougall as a non-executive director in October, and marketing insights manager Jen Gillan in August 2019.

MM Search also works closely with Tony Stanger, the Scotland rugby hero turned talent and coaching expert, from Stanger Pro.
