Former WWE superstar Sin Cara has joined Wolverhampton Wanderers as part of the team’s backroom staff.

The masked luchador – who was recently released from his contract with the sports entertainment giant – is now going by the moniker Cinta de Oro, and he will be working with the midlands team from 1 January in this bizarre new venture.

In a statement on the club’s official Spanish website, they revealed: ‘Wolves have the pleasure of announcing Cinta de Oro as the Director of International Development as of January 1, 2020.

‘His duties include searching for talent, alliances with football schools and scouting for new international figures for the future of the Wolves. We trust in his abilities as a high-calibre athlete.

‘His deep involvement with football could be beneficial in this aspect of his career.’

On his own social media account, the former NXT Tag Team champion – who held the gold with current WWE superstar Kalisto – commented on the appointment.

He spoke of his pride in taking on the new role and said it is ‘an honour to be part of this great institution’.

While Oro – who is good friends with Wolves striker Raul Jimenez – was recently released from WWE, he made a shocking return to Mexican company with AAA.

His association with the club – currently riding high in seventh place in the league after beating defending champions Manchester City 3-2 over the festive period – was first seen earlier this year, when he gifted Jimenez a mask in the team’s colours, which his pal later sported while celebrating at Wembley during Wolves’ FA Cup semi-final against Watford in April.
