Ex-Rockstar developers claim GTA 6 is in development

Grand Theft Auto V – is a sequel really underway?

New evidence has emerged that Rockstar is busy working on a new GTA, with what may be a hint at three of its locations.

Even if the continuing success of Grand Theft Auto Online muddies the waters, it still seems impossible to imagine that Rockstar Games isn’t already working on Grand Theft Auto VI in some manner.

There’s never been any proof of it though, with Rockstar saying nothing and the only thing to go on being unsubstantiated rumours and unguarded comments from developers.

There has been quite a few of the latter, with the latest being an ex-employee from Rockstar India whose CV on Artstation says he was a junior vehicle artist who created ‘concept vehicles matching with real world for GTA V DLC and upcoming GTA VI’.

When he says GTA V DLC he probably just means the regular updates that have been coming out all the time for GTA Online.

His name can be found in the credits for Red Dead Redemption II, so he definitely worked at Rockstar at some point, but he clearly wasn’t supposed to mention GTA VI.

Whether he was confused as to what his work was for – which has happened before and is especially likely with a more junior employee – is impossible to say.

The information was discovered by a fan on forum ResetEra, which immediately sent others digging around to see if they could find out more.

The most interesting revelation they found is this post on Glassdoor, where employees rate companies in terms of their working environment.

The post seems easy enough to fake but take a close look at the ‘Advice to Management’ and you’ll see an acrostic list that spells out ‘GTA 6 LSVCLC’.

This is interpreted by fans as standing for Los Santos, Vice City, and Liberty City – all places that have appeared in previous games and which are implied to be in GTA VI.

We wouldn’t take any of this as being definitely true but even without these rumours it still seems fair to imagine Rockstar is working on a new GTA.

Interestingly, we’re also approaching a similar point in the generation to when GTA V was released, which came out on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 just a few months before the launch of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

It’d been announced two years prior to that though, and if the new consoles are assumed to be out for Christmas 2020 Rockstar are already a year behind on that point.
