Whispers of the actor returning to the franchise have been rife since Disney acquired Lucasfilm, Star Wars’ production company, in 2013.

His character of Obi-Wan was integral to the three films he appeared in, training “chosen one” Anakin Skywalker – before he turned to the dark side and became Darth Vader.

Obi-Wan was last seen taking Anakin’s son Luke Skywalker to home planet Tattoine to protect him.

The Sun Online have contacted Ewan’s rep for comment.
