Evil Geniuses Acquired by Investment Firm PEAK6, New CEO Appointed

Chicago-based technology and investment firm PEAK6 Investments LLC today announced that it has acquired Evil Geniuses Database-Link-e1521645463907 and appointed a new CEO for the team as part of the deal.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, and the team declined to provide additional information when asked by The Esports Observer. Nicole LaPointe Jameson, previously an associate in PEAK6’s Strategic Capital division, will serve as the team’s new CEO, with Evil Geniuses COO Phillip Aram continuing on in the same role that he took in September 2017.

Evil Geniuses was previously owned by streaming platform Twitch Database-Link-e1521645463907, which obtained both EG and Alliance Database-Link-e1521645463907 when it acquired Good Game Agency in 2014. In December 2016, Twitch announced that it had divested itself of both teams, giving ownership to the respective players and player-selected management.

The team currently competes in games such as Dota 2 Database-Link-e1521645463907, Rainbow Six Siege, Fortnite, Call of Duty Database-Link-e1521645463907, and Rocket League Database-Link-e1521645463907, and has sponsorship deals with Razer Database-Link-e1521645463907, Monster Energy Database-Link-e1521645463907, and Xfinity. According to PEAK6’s release, LaPointe Jameson will work to secure additional partnerships for the team.
