Everything you need from the MADE.com AW20 collection (plus the 3 interior trends we should be living by this Autumn)

Lockdown 2.0 is here and we’re needing to find comfort in our homes now more than ever. As the nights get darker and the colder months draw nearer, there’s no better time to use this changing of season as an excuse to give your home a warm hug in the form of an interior re-style.

Well-loved European homeware brand MADE.com has just launched its Autumn/Winter 2020 collection with an inventive mixture of textures, hues and shapes specifically designed for the time of year. They team has even created a virtual apartment set in Amsterdam, where you can take a tour of the many rooms, soak up some inspiration and shop items as you go. Faux-real-life shopping is something I can get on-board with.

There’s three statement trends to be taken from the AW20 MADE.com collection; Nordic Move On, Luxe Maximalist and The New Soft. Here’s what you need to know…

Nordic Move On

Elements of the Scandi aesthetic have become widely popular recently, including the neutral calming palette, clean shapes and natural materials. MADE has put its own spin on Scandi-style bringing it to the forefront this Autumn/Winter. “We are evolving our nordic design aesthetic in this twilight inspired trend, with a collection influenced by the dark side of nature” says Design Director at MADE.com, Ruth Wasserman.

Each new piece takes influence from the changing seasons, the palette of dark blue tonal hues is inspired by the Northern seas and the “matte black stained timbers take on the look of charred wood” says Ruth Wassermann. The deep blues are accented by ochre, plaster pink and terracotta, with accessories styled in tonal ombre and bronze. The Nordic Move On collection includes statement furniture, natural canes, subtle reactive glaze and soft, clean lighting to bring together that Scandi-vibe we know and love.

Luxe Maximalist

Isn’t there just something about styling your home like a hotel we’re just SO obsessed with? Luxe Maximalist does just that. It has an old-school Hollywood feel, with retro and theatrical statements inspired by the 70s disco nights.

There’s bold, yet elegant materials like velvets, corduroy and fringing that bring the hotel-vibe to life. There’s architectural shapes, inflated volumes, retro-style designer furniture and works of art for rugs. “It’s a palette of rich pink, teal and red, combined with brass and marble accents for that uber opulent feel” says Ruth Wassermann, Design Director. Can’t you just picture yourself drinking champagne, in a sequin dress, listening to Fleetwood Mac on repeat in this room?

The New Soft

When Winter is just around the corner, we just feel the need to wrap ourselves up like a burrito in a blanket and sink into the sofa for an entire season on Netflix. MADE.com is all ears when it comes to our lockdown 2.0 needs with slouchy shapes, tactile furnishings in boucle, fully recyclable velvet made for the softest and cosiest of naps. “We have gone soft this season, inside and out! We are trying some new fillings in our upholstery collections to achieve extra sink-in appeal” Ruth Wassermann adds.

While we could happily nap our way through lockdown, the new soft fill sofa cushions, natural fabrics and large format seating are perfect for when it’s finally legal to invite friends around again. The colour palette is warm and inviting for Autumn, with earthy neutral tones like warm terracotta and olive green. “As we all spend more time at home, we are craving comfort. My advice is to layer textures for that cocooning feeling. We have introduced a new boucle cushion, alongside natural linen and corduroy, in a really tactile approach to textiles” says Ruth Wassermann.
