Everton boss Ancelotti urged to sign £18m ace in January – 'What a signing that would be'


“It’s a little bit of a difficult conversation having it with a manager who does not have the same kind of reputation.

“Someone like Ancelotti who has won the Champions League as a player, and as a manager already, has won the Premier League, has won big trophies, when you talk to a manager like that you think ‘Ok, I’m going to take this conversation a little bit more seriously’.”

Meanwhile, Everton defender Mason Holgate says Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Manchester United, their third in a row, is a wake-up call after an impressive start to the season.

“It was good to start the season like that but ultimately it wasn’t going to stay the same through the entire season,” Holgate told evertontv.
