Wolves XI: Rui Patricio, Bennett, Coady, Boly, Vinagre, Traore, Dendoncker, Saiss, Cutrone, Neves, Jimenez

  • Richarlison opens the scoring after horrendous mix-up between Conor Coady and Rui Patrício
  • Wolves star Romain Saiss prods in a swift equaliser after good work from Adama Traore
  • Alex Iwobi scores first Premier league goal for Everton – heading home Sigurdsson’s cross
  • Raul Jimenez levels for Wolves with brave header from Willy Boly flick-on
  • Richarlison bags his second of the game with glancing header from Lucas Digne cross

EVERTON 2-1 WOLVES

54: Penalty appeal! Seamus Coleman wants a spot-kick after Romain Saiss appeared to grab his arm when darting into the box. Nothing given.

51: I’ve been very impressed with Fabian Delph this afternoon. He’s made the tackles and pulled the strings for the hosts – adds some much-needed steel in the Everton midfield.

48: Marco Silva’s side have started positively with Sigurdsson and Kean combining nicely down the right channel. Booked! Richarlison knocks the ball beyond Willy Boly, who bodychecks the Brazilian.

EVERTON 2-1 WOLVES

45: You ready? Excellent. We’re underway. If this starts anything like the first half then we’ll have another three goals in the opening 11 minutes…

No changes for either side at the break. Won’t be long before we see Joao Moutinho and Diogo Jota I would imagine.

EVERTON 2-1 WOLVES

HT: The Toffees have the lead at the break. A flurry of early goals and plenty of chances for both sides throughout. I suspect this will not end 2-1.

45: Jimenez booked of stopping Lucas Digne take a quick throw-in. Michael Keane is then lucky to avoid one when holding on to the Mexican in the centre-circle.

42: Everton looking a shade more comfortable now – but they’ll know that Wolves have picked up the most points from losing position than any other side in the Premier League.

40: Vinagre charges in late on Richarlison and collects a booking for his troubles. Sigurdsson will whip this in from the right… terrible. He fails to beat the first man.

38: Naughty from Moise Kean, who flicks the ankles of Willy Boly while he’s on the deck. The Italian youngster was frustrated because the Wolves defender was sitting on the ball thinking the referee had blown up.

35: Everton seeing far more of the ball with Wolves being uncharacteristically wasteful in possession. Perhaps those Europa League exploits are taking their toll on Nuno Espírito Santo’s side.

32: Romain Saïss’ strike was the first Premier League goal that Everton have conceded at Goodison Park in 549 minutes of play, ending a run of six consecutive home clean sheets in the competition.

30: Everton respond! This is a break taking game – neutrals must be loving it. Moise Kean looks to flick home a near-post effort that’s turned behind for a corner. Yerry Mina wins it but there’s no venom on the header.

Kean, again, darts to the near post with an improvised chest flick from Gylfi Sigurdsson’s cross. Rui Patricio clambers to gather at the second time of asking.

28: They are lining up! The ball breaks for Patrick Cutrone, whose goal bound shot is blocked.

25: Two good chances for the visitors. Raul Jimenez, who has scored seven goals this season, fires a sighter straight at Jordan Pickford. Moments later Ruben Vinagre crosses for Raul Jimenez, whose header is blocked.

22: Another chance for Wolves but Romain Saiss’ header is straight at Jordan Pickford. Ruben Vinagre giving Seamus Coleman a terrible time down Wolves left side.

19: We’ve had quite a lengthy pause with Richarlison down clutching his ankle. Looked innocuous – which are generally the worst. He’s off the field now.

17: Richarlison’s opener was his ninth home goal in the Premier League, with neither Watford or Everton losing a Premier League match on home soil when the Brazilian finds the net (P7 W5 D2 L0).

14: Honestly, it should be 2-2. And it would have been were it not for the heroics of Jordan Pickford. Patrick Cutrone is free at the back post and his acrobatic strike is parried clear by England’s No.1.

EVERTON 2-1 WOLVES – IWOBI

11: GOAL! What the heck is going on at Goodison Park today?!

Everton have doubled their Premier League goal tally inside 11 minutes to regain the lead over Wolves. It’s a scintillating move down the right with Gylfi Sigurdsson crossing for the unmarked Alex Iwobi, who powers a header past Rui Patricio.

EVERTON 1-1 WOLVES | SAISS

8: GOAL! Well… that escalated quickly.

Wolves are level just three minutes after Richarlison’s opener. Adama Traore roasts Lucas Digne down the right channel and drills it low for Romain Saiss to prod in a swift equaliser!

EVERTON 1-0 WOLVES | RICHARLISON

5: GOAL! Everton make the breakthrough – but my word have Wolves gifted it to Marco Silva’s side.

There’s a horrendous mix-up between Conor Coady and Rui Patricio with the defender blasting it straight at Moise Kean. The ball ricochets to Richarlison, who expertly converts with a bouncing half-volley.

3: Cracking start from the hosts. They play it from right to left with Alex Iwobi eventually swinging in a cross from the left that Gylfi Sigurdsson glances just over the crossbar.

EVERTON 0-0 WOLVES

1: We’re underway at Goodison Park on an absolutely glorious afternoon on Merseyside. Sorry for the lack of build-up – I was busy watching Rangers hit the self-destruct button against Celtic at Ibrox.

Plenty of changes from both managers today. The headline news is obviously that Alex Iwobi and Moise Kean get their first Premier League starts for Everton, as does Patrick Cutrone.

I have high hopes for this one.
