Euromillions winner Jane Park reveals she is pregnant with her first child

Britain’s youngest EuroMillions winner Jane Park has revealed she has finally found happiness money can’t buy – after finding out she is pregnant.

The 23-year-old has told how she is expecting her first child and claims that winning £1million doesn’t come close to the elation of becoming a mum.

Jane said she is excited to finally love somebody who is not interested in her bank balance.

She said: “Seeing the positive-result pregnancy test was more exciting than seeing the winning numbers on my lottery ticket. It’s a crazy time but I’m so happy.

“People think winning the lottery is the best thing that can happen to you but this feeling is just magical in a completely
different way. This is something that no amount of cash could buy.

“Everybody thinks buying a flash car is exciting but in reality, for me, shopping for a pram is 10 times more fulfilling.

“When you suddenly come into a lot of money, you become isolated and desperate to build bonds and relationships but also you’re worried they want to be around because of what you have, not who you are.

“For the first time, I feel like I’ll have someone new in my life who loves me for me and not because of my bank balance – that’s such a comforting thing.”

Jane, of Edinburgh, also revealed she is not in a relationship with the child’s dad – a friend called Barry – but they are committed to raising their baby together.

She added: “I’d always imagined finding a boyfriend, settling down and then having a baby but it just didn’t work out that way.

“Barry and I have been friends for five years. We originally started talking over social media. We became close and one night things naturally progressed.

“We’re both committed to being parents and that’s the most important thing.

“I’m just grateful that he works full-time and is a good person. It’s a blessing.”

The millionaire has struggled to find true love and last November even launched a website to search for a boyfriend, offering a £60,000-a-year salary for Mr Right.

A string of high-profile romances with X Factor star Sam Callahan, in 2017, and Dundee footballer Jordan Piggott, in 2018, also crashed and burned.

Jane admits discovering her pregnancy – and telling Barry he is the father – initially sparked “mixed” feelings.

She added: “I first thought I might be pregnant because I was feeling really tired throughout the day and had morning sickness.

“A friend suggested I should do a test – but when it came back as positive, I was in shock. I can’t describe the feeling
– it was a mixture of excitement and fear.

“Only one person could have been the father so I called him instantly while he was at work and, like me, he was really shocked.

“It took him 24 hours to get his head around it but then he called and I could tell the shock grew to nervousness, followed by excitement.

“He’s doing everything he can to be involved.”

Now three months into her pregnancy, Jane reflected on how impending motherhood has changed her outlook on life.

She said: “Since finding out, I’ve felt different. I’ve all of a sudden felt like someone with responsibility and someone who now has a time structure and will have to be completely unselfish and just look after this little person.

Jane Park scooped £1million at the age of 17

“No amount of money can change the fact that my baby is coming in six months’ time and that’s making me appreciate time a little more and helping me to mentally prepare.”

The pregnancy follows a turbulent six years since Jane’s life changed forever on July 28, 2013.

Then 17, Jane worked as an office assistant and shared a room with her sister in a two-bed council house.

She walked into a shop and bought her first ever Lucky Dip – and became a millionaire overnight.

Jane quit her £8-an-hour job, spent two months in Magaluf and bought a chihuahua and a three-bed home after her win.

She recalled: “I really struggled with feeling isolated and scared.

“I wrongly publicised my win so, as a 17-year-old girl living in a house alone for the first time, it was terrifying knowing that everyone knew I was a millionaire. I moved back into my family home within a couple of months.”

In May, she revealed in a tweet how she was selling £50 topless photos online and donating the proceeds to charity – but insisted she felt “empowered” and “like Robin Hood”.

Jane added: “I’ve always been open about the fact that I’ve spent some of my money on cosmetic procedures to change my body.

“It came from wanting to be accepted and desirable, in a way – but also because I’ve had people be really unkind about my looks since I’ve been in the public eye.

“I didn’t ask for this but suddenly, because you’re a lottery winner, you’re public property and people think they can say what they like to you.

“I know my body will now change as I become a mum but suddenly superficial things like that don’t seem as important to me.

“As long as I have a happy and healthy baby, I don’t mind the way I look.”

Jane, who has said she won’t find out the baby’s gender and has vowed to be a “glam” mum, revealed that she will stop her child from buying lottery tickets after she previously vowed to sue EuroMillions for negligence.

She claimed the win “ruined her life” and called for the age for buying a ticket to be raised from 16 to 18 – before dropping her case.

Jane added: “One thing I’m certain of is that my child won’t be buying lottery tickets until they are at least 18. I’d never want them to have the experiences I have had.”
