Esther Rantzen husband: Esther opens up on heartbreak over late husband

Esther met Desmond during an affair in 1968, where at the time he was her head of department at the BBC.

The couple exchanged vows in 1977 and were married for 30 years before Desmond’s death at the age of 69 in 2000.

During an Interview on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, Esther admitted she deeply regretted the affair.

She said: “I cannot regret the marriage that we had together and the family we had together because we adored each other.”
