A player-vs-player VR ‘esports experience’ is heading to Nottingham’s meetspaceVR venue.
Zero Latency opened the venue in the Intu Victoria Center last October, now it’s launching competitive shooter Sol Raiders there this July.
In Sol Raiders, two teams of up to four players pit their skills against each other across three maps. Equipped with VR headsets, headphones, military-styled backpacks and a gun, players move freely in an empty warehouse, but see virtually generated worlds in which the games take place.
Press and industry professionals were invited to a launch event last week to try out Sol Raiders, as well as games made by game design students from across the East Midlands in meetspaceVR’s new esports lounge. The event was a part of UK games industry trade body Ukie’s Must Play May campaign.

During July, meetspaceVR will be hosting what it says is ‘the UK’s first team vs team, free-roam VR esports tournament’, with more than 50 teams set to compete.
“With more than 20,000 players having already played our free-roam VR games in Nottingham, and the growing popularity of esports, we’ve seen a huge demand from players who want to compete against each other in head to head action,” said John Lilley, CEO of meetspaceVR. “With our new esports lounge and Sol Raiders now you can.
