There are several interesting takeaways from the infographic above, including the rise of paid opportunities in esports. In numbers, paid opportunities increased from 1,912 to 4,028 in the same time frame – an impressive growth of 210.67 percent. In a period where people often question the financial stability of working in esports, it’s promising to see such a steep rise.

The most common age of esports job seekers has also seen some change. The percentage of 25-34 year old looking for jobs withing esports increased from 44.52 percent to 52.45 percent, overtaking the 18-24 age bracket which is at 36.77 percent.

Rich Huggan, Managing Director of HitmarkerJobs commented on the findings: “It’s incredibly exciting to see so many jobs opening up in esports globally, giving more and more people the opportunity to turn their passion into a career. We’re grateful to be able to play our part in this by providing job seekers with a definitive list of esports jobs, and employers with talented staff.

“The numbers in our infographic show incredible growth in 12 short months, though there is still work to be done in addressing the gender-split of job seekers and in seeing the number of unpaid roles continue to decrease. HitmarkerJobs.com will strive to be at the helm of this change as we aim to professionalize the hiring space in both esports and gaming.”

When looking at data regarding locations in the chosen time frames, the United States is a hotbed for the industry; containing over half of all esports jobs that were present on HitmarkerJob’s website. The number of career  opportunities in the USA rose from 1,147 (45.95 percent of all jobs) in the first half of 2018 to 2,586 (55.76 percent of all jobs) in the first half of 2019. Out of all the states, California came out on top with a 61.10 percent share of all domestic jobs.

Esports Insider says: It’s great that HitmarkerJobs is able to provide data which gives a transparent look into how opportunities are evolving as the industry ages. It’s not a perfect indication as it’s unlikely that every single opportunity will find its way on the platform, but it’s still an important insight nonetheless. We wonder what will change going into 2020!
