ES Tests: Charlotte Tilbury’s glossy version of iconic Pillow Talk lipstick

Charlotte Tilbury strikes again. The makeup mogul has beauty boffs swooning over her latest launch: a limited edition gloss version of her iconic Pillow Talk lipstick.

The Pillow Talk Lip Lustre, £19, is now on sale in stores (and online) – but you’d better act fast as it’s only available while stocks last.

One Pillow Talk Matte Revolution lipstick is sold every two minutes, according to the brand. The best-seller has earned cult status in the beauty world, and the nude pink hue is supposed to suit everyone, no matter your skin tone or colouring.

Tilbury has already released varying iterations of the coveted lip product with Pillow Talk Diamonds, a sheer lipstick, and Superstar Lips, a glossy lipstick, and now you can finally get your hands on the flattering shade in a full-blown high shine gloss.

The lip lustre formula contains lotus flower extract to soften and condition, a film former to enhance wear and a glossy ester to give a sumptuously smooth, non-greasy, cushiony feel.

In the name of journalism, we put the new drop to the test.

I used to love a good gloss in my teens and recently started playing around with this look again. My pet hate though is anything sticky that constantly catches my hair, so I like that this isn’t gloopy. The gloss is subtle with good coverage and has some serious staying power, perfect for when I want something with a little more oomph but I’m not going all out with red lip. Personally, I think the gloss version of Pillow Talk suits me better than the matte. I’ve rediscovered my love of a high-shine pout.

I have to admit, I am already a big fan of Tilbury’s lip glosses. They’re satisfyingly shiny without the Lancôme Juicy Tubes tackiness, and hydrating without having the blink-and-you-miss-it staying power of a balm. That said, Pillow Talk actually wouldn’t be my shade of choice. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that the colour didn’t work. It’s pretty and a super wearable shade. I do however find that as its such a dusty pink, it almost looks a little grey on my complexion. I’ll be sticking to my all time favourite, the ever-so-slightly warmer shade ‘Sweet Stiletto.’

The new Pillow Talk Lip Lustre launches alongside a limited edition Palette of Pops (£42), a sparklier version of the Luxury Palette in the core collection. Party season sorted.
