Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has allayed fears of a lengthy lay-off by insisting he’s ‘ok’ following his visit to hospital.
The Ivory Coast defender was stretchered off with the score at 0-0 in United’s 3-1 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday.
The defender has had little luck with injury during his time at Old Trafford and he was making just his second start in four months during the game at Wembley.
Bailly clashed heads with centre-back partner Harry Maguire and there was 11 minutes added on at the end of the first half to compensate for the stoppage.
The length of the stoppage pointed towards a significant incident and Bailly was placed in a neck brace and provided with oxygen as he left the field.
Bailly was taken to hospital but was released later that night and he’s now confirmed that ‘it was just a scare’.
‘Thank you for all the messages of support,’ said Bailly.
‘I am OK, it was just a scare.
‘I feel the pain of yesterday’s defeat even more but we have to get back up and refocus on the two big games we have this week.’
United take on West Ham at Old Trafford on Wednesday and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men will be gunning for a comfortable victory.
Leicester’s defeat to Spurs means United can leapfrog the Foxes going into their final day game against Brendan Rodgers’ side.
A four-goal victory against the Hammers, for example, would mean Leicester need to win by two clear goals on the final day to finish in the top four.
