Epic and Gearbox have partnered up for a crossover event that brings residents of Borderlands 3’s Pandora into Fortnite courtesy of a “Pandora Rift Zone” that has appeared on the map.
From now until September 10th, Epic wants you to “shoot and loot your way through the Pandora Rift Zone, take on themed Challenges for free rewards, and pick up the Psycho Bundle from the shop”.
It’s an interesting promotion, and one that sees Epic willing to leverage its hugely-popular battle royale game to drive sales of a game signed up to Epic Games Store in a PC-exclusivity deal.
Epic has announced a slew of exclusive titles for Epic Games Store from partners as wide-ranging as Take-Two’s Private Division, Quantic Dream, Remedy and 505 Games, which has recently release Remedy’s Control. We found out yesterday that French publisher Bigben is the latest to reveal it is partnering with Epic Games Store for the upcoming releases of WRC 8, Paranoia: Happiness is Mandatory, and Bee Simulator, making all three games PC-exclusive on EGS.
Following the success of The Division 2, Ubisoft has committed to launching more new titles, and back catalogue titles, on the store, too, continuing its partnership where titles are exclusive to UPlay and Epic Game Store. Some of those back catalogue titles have been promised as being part of the free games programme.
Shenmue III is also slated to be a timed PC exclusive on Epic Game Store. Despite fan disappointment, developer Ys Net said at the time that “refunds will not be granted”. After an angry backlash, Ys Net then promised its Kickstarter backers that it was “listening to their concerns” and asked for fans “to have some patience” as it worked to “assess the situation and together find a way forward to justify the trust [players] placed in [Ys Net]”. Now, it seems it will uphold refunds after all.
