EnerMech appoints new IT director in Aberdeen

Scottish-headquartered engineering group EnerMech has appointed Steven Muir to a newly-created post of IT director.

He joins from being director of group technology and operations and IT business partner for the UK, Middle East and Asia at Stork.

Previously, Muir led and managed IT functions across multiple different industry sectors, including education, technology and biotech.

He has more than 25 years’ experience of leading IT strategy, managing multi-million-pound budgets, delivering transformation projects and global integrations.

Based in Aberdeen, Muir will be responsible for enhancing EnerMech’s technology components, as the company strengthens its entry into the renewables and infrastructure sectors.

He will report to chief executive Christian Brown, who said: “To achieve our strategy of rolling out EnerMech’s specialist integrated services portfolio across the green energy and infrastructure spaces, we will rely heavily on a robust IT framework.

“Steven had the credentials and the experience to support our engineers, technicians, business development specialists and support staff in helping to make this vision a reality.”

Muir added: “My experience of working in a fast-moving global services environment is a good fit for EnerMech and I am proud to be joining at a time when the business is preparing for a new generation of growth in well-established and new markets.”

Formed in April 2008, EnerMech provides specialist integrated mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and integrity services to the international energy and infrastructure sectors, from pre-commissioning through operations and maintenance to late-life support and decommissioning.

At the end of 2018, the company was acquired by global asset manager Carlyle Group.
