Endgame trailer hints at attack on Avengers HQ and we’re already nervous

The Avengers: Endgame trailer has been released, giving us even more conspiracy theories over just who survived Thanos’ snap.

But it seems as though, as well as all that, there is also an attack on the superhero headquarters – and we’re not sure we’re ready for it.

While watching the teaser on precisely the 867,862,028th view, we noticed Ant-Man (aka Scott Lang, aka Paul Rudd) looking seriously ominous while wearing his costume, while standing in HQ.

If you look a little closer, something that looks scarily like a huge fireball can be seen in the background.

It could just be a trick of the camera, but couple that with a shot of Ant-Man rushing to escape an explosion a few moments later signals that the Avengers office has been attacked.

A preview from an Endgame LEGO set also supports this theory, showing the HQ in the background while toy version of our favourite superheroes – and Thanos – battling in front.

While Joe and Anthony Russo previously suggested toys aren’t a credible source of narrative, it’s hard to ignore all the clues so far.

But we’ll have to wait until next month to find out for sure.

Elsewhere in the trailer, we saw the moment Iron Man and Thor came face-to-face with Captain Marvel for the first time, as Brie Larson joins the superhero gang’s fold.

New acquaintances are made – with Thor taking an instant liking to Captain Marvel – but there is also some heartbreak ahead with scenes of funerals popping up in the teaser.

Seriously, we’ve only watched two minutes of this film and even that was a rollercoaster.

One person who was impressed by the whole thing was Mark Ruffalo, who celebrated the fact he was definitely not fired from the superhero crew.

After he basically gave away a few too many spoilers, Joe and Anthony felt he couldn’t be trusted anymore and ‘axed’ him on social media.

Awkward.

But, after the official movie poster was released – with the Hulk (aka Bruce Banner) pride of place (sort of) – he joked that he was still part of the crew.

Sharing the new image, he simply wrote: ‘So I wasn’t fired??? #AvengersEndgame.’

Nope, you definitely weren’t sacked.

However, while fans were loving Bruce Banner’s inclusion, they were left more than a little annoyed that Danai Gurira’s name had been left off the official poster – despite her character being on it, and Okoye being one of the last heroes standing after Thanos’ snap.

You’d think that would earn her pride of place on the poster, alongside Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans and co who were listed at the top…

But Danai’s name is tucked away in the small prints credit at the bottom – alongside Gwyneth Paltrow, who isn’t actually in the picture.

Avengers: Endgame is out on 25 April.
