Emmerdale's Asan N'Jie reunites with cast days after he's written off show

Emmerdale actor Asan N’Jie may have left the show under controversial circumstances, but it hasn’t affected his friendship with his co-stars.

The former Emmerdale cast member Asan N’Jie shared a pic over Twitter today with pal Jay Kontzle, who played his brother Billy Fletcher on the ITV soap.

Smiling side-by-side, the onscreen brothers could be seen smiling at the camera, while posing on a busy street.

In the caption, Asan wrote, “still bruddas”, letting fans know there’d been no love lost between them after his sacking.

The 25-year-old, who played Ellis Chapman, was sacked last month when it emerged he had been caught up in a fight with Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas at the TV Choice Awards.

Jay retweeted the snap, as comments began to flood in from loyal Emmerdale fans.

One said: “Love this…”

A second added: “Hope you’re both okay!”

While a third remarked: “Two very handsome men.”

Ellis’ character was written off the show over a period of four weeks, leaving his brother Billy and father Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) behind.

In scenes aired last week, the factory worker left the dales to live with his mum Jessie Grant (Sandra Marvin), in Dubai.

According to Mirror Online, the soap star threatened to “knife” 44-year-old Jamie after the award ceremony, which took place at a central London hotel.

Once the news broke, ITV released a statement explaining their decision to terminate his contract on the show.

It read: “ITV executives have met with him this morning and as a consequence, Asan’s contract has been terminated with immediate effect.”

Asan added: “My behaviour at the TV Choice Awards was completely unacceptable and very much out of character.

“I sincerely apologise to everybody who has been affected especially Jamie Lomas, the whole Emmerdale team, our audience, ITV, my family, and the organisers of the TV Choice Awards.

Before finishing: “I am devastated, accept full responsibility for my actions and I am determined to learn from this.”

Emmerdale continues tonight at 7pm on ITV.
