Emmerdale’s Amy Walsh is pregnant with her first child with Toby Alexander-Smith.
The pair met in the audience of Strictly Come Dancing back in 2019 and went on to strike up a relationship.
The couple are now preparing to become parents, and Amy says she’s so excited to become a mum.
She told OK! magazine: “It feels as though the way everything happened was meant to be. I thought I might struggle with fertility, so for pregnancy to happen quite easily and when I wanted – I was gobsmacked. We feel incredibly lucky…”
The actress, 34, always worried she might never become a mum as she was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovaries when she was 20.
She went on: “I always thought falling pregnant was going to be a battle. Toby knew how worried I was, especially as I’m a bit older.
“I did wonder if it would ever happen for me, so it feels like a blessing.”
Toby added: “There’s never a perfect time. You could always think, ‘We could do with a bigger house or investing more time in our careers,’ but if you’ve met the right person then that’s it.”
She added of her pregnancy: “It’s always something I hoped and prayed would happen at some point.
“I’ve enjoyed being an auntie, but after meeting Toby I felt like I really wanted a child myself.”
The pair revealed they began trying for a baby and were delighted to find out Amy was pregnant after just two months.
Amy and Toby are used to their on-screen lives hitting the headlines, but their exciting baby news means they are now in the spotlight away from the cameras.
And the happy couple can’t wait to become new parents, especially Amy who revealed she was feeling broody around her sister’s and friend’s children.
