Emmerdale spoilers: Vanessa Woodfield kidnap blunder leaves fans in uproar

Rapist Pierce Harris (played by Jonathan Wrather) brutally killed Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) last month after a week of whodunit episodes on Emmerdale. Since then he has been sneaking around the village and looks to be ready to kill Rhona (Zoe Henry) next. However, as he plots his reunion with Rhona, fans have been left baffled by a huge blunder involving Pierce’s kidnap of Vanessa (Michelle Hardwick).

The Emmerdale villagers are unaware of Pierce’s return and his part in Graham’s death as Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) remains in prison awaiting trial.

Rhona has vowed revenge on Graham’s real killer but her best friend Vanessa, who is Pierce’s former enemy, has now been kidnapped by the evil killer after she discovered his return.

Vanessa is currently being kept in Laurel’s (Charlotte Bellamy) house while she is at a funeral in Australia.

Things went from bad to worse for the vet when Pierce read out an upsetting letter to Vanessa revealing she has bowel cancer.

But it seems that’s the last of her worries as it was revealed by Emmerdale, Vanessa will survive her ordeal with Pierce before undergoing treatment for her cancer.

Speaking of the upcoming storyline, actress Michelle said: “This is such a challenging storyline, but we’ve been working closely with Bowel Cancer UK, who have been enormously helpful to me in researching Vanessa’s symptoms and treatment.”

Genevieve Edwards, Chief Executive at Bowel Cancer UK, added: “We greatly appreciated the opportunity to work with the Emmerdale team on this important storyline.

“While everyone’s experience of diagnosis is different, it is vital that Vanessa’s story is as accurate as possible.

“Although bowel cancer is more common in the over 50s, it can affect people of all ages. More than 2,500 people under 50, like Vanessa, are diagnosed with the disease in the UK every year.

“This storyline will help to raise awareness of bowel cancer, and we hope it encourages viewers to recognise the symptoms and visit their GP if they’re concerned.”

Will Pierce change his mind about keeping Vanessa hostage now he knows about her secret health battle?

Emmerdale continues on ITV tonight at 7pm.
