Emmerdale spoilers: Faith Dingle in major new gangster storyline? Star drops bombshell

This week has seen the Dingle matriarch and Eric Pollard’s (played by Chris Chittell) relationship seriously tested on Emmerdale.

Becoming jealous of Faith’s (Sally Dexter) connection with Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) he was frustrated and in a moment of madness decided to try and prove his manhood.

Eric attempted to fight the pro wrestler yet it did little but put the couple even further on the rocks on the ITV soap.

And with Faith and Bear sharing a common goal to have a relationship with their new grandchild – Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) and Chas Dingle’s (Lucy Pargeter) offspring – the unlikely duo have been spending even more time together.

While the gentle family drama ticks along however, Sally has shared details of a completely new plot she’d like Faith to become involved in.

The Dingles are no stranger to darkness – particularly Faith’s son Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley), who has regularly been in and out of the law over the years – but Faith’s taken a very different avenue in the sleepy Yorkshire village.

But could she end up being Emmerdale’s own mob boss?

In a new interview, Sally said of her ideal storyline for Faith: “I would really love it if there was some kind of benign gangster element that crept into her existence.

“Some kind of a Ribena Hood, someone who was keen to rob from the rich and give to the poor.

“But also I’d like her to have quite a hard element.

“She can be quite savvy if she needs to be.”

Will Sally end up getting her wish on the ITV soap?

Asked whether she thinks Faith and Eric could get through their issues and if they’re a good match in the meantime, the star was enthusiastic about the couple’s future.

“I think in many ways they’re a smashing match,” she said. “They get along, they make each other smile.

“And particularly Faith can make Pollard smile, and Faith likes the finer things in life and Eric can provide those.”

But in terms of whether the character could ever actually be tempted by Bear and destroy her relationship for good, Sally is insistent the soon-to-be grandparents have a platonic connection.

“No… She likes Bear,” the actress considered. “She feels very warm and kindly towards Bear and she wants him to be alright.

“I think she feels a bit like a big sister, so she wants him to be alright.

“She sees him as quite a vulnerable chap,” Sally added.

Emmerdale continues tonight at 7pm on ITV.
