Emily Thornberry squeezes into next round of Labour leadership with just minutes to spare



Emily Thornberry made it into the next round of the Labour leadership race with just moments to spare this afternoon. 

The shadow minister hit the 22 backers needed in the final minutes before nominations closed at 2.30pm. 

She joins Sir Keir Starmer, Rebecca Long-Bailey, Jess Phillips and Lisa Nandy in the next round. 

Clive Lewis dropped out of the race earlier in the afternoon.
