Emilia Clarke: Game of Thrones’ Daenerys Targaryen apologises over show 'secret'

Emilia Clarke, 32, has been playing the Mother of Dragons since Game of Thrones first hit screens in 2011. The British actress recently appeared on the CBS programme The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and admitted she told her mother what happens at the end of Game of Thrones. However, the Daenerys Targaryen star apologised to the show producers as the show ending has been a heavily guarded secret for some time. Television host, Stephen Colbert asked: “Have you told anyone how it ends?”

Emilia replied: “I’ve got to be honest, I did. I did,” before giving a cheeky smile.

She added: “It was not just my dog.”

Stephen then asked: “Was you supposed to?”

She explained: “I wasn’t supposed too. Soz [sorry] lads. I told my mum. But the good thing about telling my mum these things is that she’s a vault.

“She’s forgotten that I told her.”

Emilia revealed although her mother is aware of the show ending she actually cannot recall the actress showing her the final script.

The Game Of Thrones star continued: “And we were talking about it the other day, and I was like ‘because you know’. She was like ‘Do I?’

“And I was like ‘yeah, because I told you. You kind of read one of the scenes.’”

“And she was like ‘I can’t remember, what happens?,’” Emilia divulged.

However, the beauty was not prepared to repeat herself a second time round and decided to keep it to herself.

Emilia added: “Well, I’m not going to tell you twice. You missed your chance.”

Stephen replied: “I’m kind of jealous of your mother, because you can enjoy everything over and over again.”

The small screen star, then said: “Indeed. But if she [her mother] falls asleep on a plane I’m very worried in her sleep she’s just going to say it and not realise that her subconscious knows exactly what happens.”

Stephen quipped: “It was all a dream.”

To which Emilia replied: “Yes, exactly.”

Game of Thrones episode two, season eight continues Sunday on HBO and Sky Atlantic.
