‘I might have bad days, but that’s okay’: Model Elyse Knowles reveals how she keeps a ‘positive mind frame’ when it comes to her skin… after sharing her secret battle with acne

In December last year, Elyse Knowles candidly revealed her secret battle with acne.

And the Myer ambassador spoke about her skin problems on Friday, saying she’s ‘okay’ with having the occasional bad day.

While attending the opening of Myer’s Beauty Emporium in Sydney, the 27-year-old said she tries to keep a ‘positive mind frame’ when it comes to her complexion.

‘Every day is different, you don’t know how many friends are going to pop up on your face each morning! It’s always a nice surprise,’ Elyse said.

‘But it’s more about keeping a positive mind frame to make sure it doesn’t affect you and to make sure that you realise there are worse things happening in the world.’

She added: ‘If [bad skin] is the only thing I’m dealing with, I’m very lucky to have that problem.’

Elyse explained that she turns to a variety of different products to combat acne and has even tried herbal medicines.

‘I might have good days or bad days, but that’s okay. I try and keep positive about it and use different products or herbal medicines to eliminate how bad it can get. But I  haven’t quite got there yet,’ she said with a laugh.

Elyse added that it’s important for anyone suffering from acne to know they’re not alone, and they should turn to family and friends for help if they’re feeling insecure.

‘Everyone has something that they worry about and skin is what I deal with,’ she said. ‘You’re not the only one going through it. Surround yourself with happy and positive people.’

Despite her admitted skin problems, Elyse look absolutely flawless at the Myer event on Friday as she arrived in a bright pink mini dress.

On the day, she joined fellow Myer ambassador Rachael Finch, who turned heads in a stylish purple frock.

Elyse said that while she dolls up for work, she likes to ‘keep it clean and fresh’ on her days off when it comes to beauty products.

‘I like to keep it simple and hydrate my skin with the best products. Every person is different though,’ she said.

‘I try to head towards the more natural brands that have the sustainability element. They are for the environment and help you from the inside out.’
