Elton John to host coronavirus benefit concert live from his living room


Music icon Sir Elton John has promised to host a benefit gig live from his own living room to raise money for the coronavirus relief fund.

The superstar turned 73 while in quarantine on Wednesday and has now signed up to help beat the world crisis from his sofa.

Elton will be hosting iHeart Radio’s ‘Living Room Concert for America’ with cash going directly to those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Billie Eilish, Mariah Carey and the Backstreet Boys have also agreed to perform with US charities Feeding America and First Responders Children’s Foundation benefiting, Deadline report.

Alicia Keys will join the star-studded line-up which will be watched around the world.

The idea was born following the cancellation of the cash-raising iHeart Music Awards.

Elton seems to be making the most of the lockdown with husband David Furnish, 57, and their two sons, nine-year-old Zachary and seven-year-old Elijah.

He told Zane Lowe on Apple Music: “This is the time where people are going to spend more time with their families than they’ve ever done before.

“And so far – but check with me in two weeks – I’m enjoying it so much because I don’t spend that much time with my family during the day and I’m loving every second of it.

“So cherish it while you can. Every cloud has a silver lining.”
