Elton John fans are set to experience some of the legendary performer’s classic concerts, as he launches a new series on YouTube.

A series of the Tiny Dancer singer’s shows, performed between 1976 and 2001 will play on his YouTube channel, with the star also raising money for the Elton John AIDS Foundation COVID-19 Emergency Fund.

Kicking off on 3 July with his 1976 set at the Edinburgh Playhouse, a two hour concert will premiere on his channel every Saturday at 5pm BST for six weeks.

Elton said: ‘My Foundation’s COVID-19 Emergency Fund helps frontline partners prepare for and respond to the pandemic and its effects on HIV prevention and care for the most marginalized communities.

‘We cannot jeopardise HIV testing and care during this time or else the results could be disastrous for the 37.5 million people living with HIV.

‘So, I’m really happy to connect this YouTube Concert series to benefit our Foundation’s urgent COVID response.’

The singer was previously forced to postpone the summer dates on his Farewell tour due to the coronavirus crisis.

The 73-year-old was due to bring his Goodbye Yellow Brick Road tour to North America in May until July, but pulled the plug due to the global health crisis.

In a statement, the singer’s team announced on his behalf: ‘It is with deep regret that Elton John must postpone the remainder of his upcoming North American 2020 dates on his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour from May 22 through July 8.

‘Previously postponed performances were from March 26 through May 2, 2020.’

It came after the Candle In The Wind singer already scrapped shows during the spring leg of the jaunt.

The weekly series will premiere on 3 July at 5pm BST on Elton John’s Official YouTube Channel.
