Elton John has returned to the stage after cancelling his show in Indianapolis due to ill health.

The Rocketman told his fans on Saturday night that he had to reschedule the event until March next year as he was feeling ‘extremely unwell’.

However, it looks as though the 72-year-old is back fighting fit, as he has since taken to Instagram with a couple of backstage pictures.

Beaming down the lens, the Honky Cat hitmaker looked overjoyed as he was joined by the likes of Kacey Musgraves, Rag’n’Bone Man and Lee Ann Womack.

Writing in the caption, the living legend told his 2.3million followers: ‘Reunited with some familiar faces in Nashville last night.

‘Thank you @spaceykacey, Rag’n’Bone Man and @leeannwomack for coming to see the show. #EltonFarewellTour.’

Fans were quick to comment, and were more than pleased to see the star back in good health.

‘Glad you are feeling better Elton!’ one wrote while another added: ‘I guess your feeling better, Reg?’

Someone else said: ‘Glad to see you feeling well and back on the road. Take care! We love you!’

Earlier this week, Elton told his fans how he had to rearrange his show in Indianapolis to Thursday, March 26, 2020.

Sharing a picture of himself alongside his piano, he wrote: ‘To my dear fans in Indianapolis, it is with the heaviest heart that I’m forced to deliver the news that I am extremely unwell and therefore unable to perform at @bankerslifefieldhouse tonight.

‘I absolutely hate to let my fans down, but I owe it to you to put on the best #EltonFarewellTour show possible and unfortunately that’s simply not possible.’

He continued: ‘The date will be rearranged for March 26th 2020, and I promise I will deliver the show you deserve. Thank you so much for your support and understanding. xx’

The venue also shared the same message, adding: ‘Due to illness, Elton John’s concert slated for tonight, Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 26, 2020.

‘We do apologise for any inconvenience caused by this necessary change and wish Elton a speedy recovery.’

The news came just days after the icon’s husband David Furnish lost his mother.

Paying tribute to his mum, the grieving son wrote on Instagram: ‘Today I lost my beautiful, angelic Mother. She passed away peacefully in the middle of the night, with me and my brothers by her side.’
