Elon Musk tapped to host Saturday Night Live with musical guest Miley Cyrus

Tesla CEO Elon Musk will attempt to flex his comedic prowess as he makes his hosting debut on Saturday Night Live on May 8.

The longtime NBC variety show made the announcement via social media as they shared a photo with Musk’s name alongside Miley Cyrus — who was tapped as musical guest — captioning the image ‘Musk See TV.’

The news came as shock to many as the program does not usually tap business moguls such as the SpaceX founder to play host, but it seemed a lucrative move on SNL’s part despite overwhelmingly negative fan reaction.

Fan favorite: And it was all love for Miley, but the same could not be said for Musk as many asked 'can we just double down on Miley?'

Though a surefire way to get eyeballs on the screen, many took issue with the tech wizard hosting, as they felt he didn’t need more exposure as he boasts a net worth of $177 billion dollars.

Amongst a flurry of ‘OMG, NO,’ comments on the show’s Instagram account and Twitter, one remark of approval was hard to come by.

‘idk how much communication you have with lorne or the higher ups, but someone needs to tell them that absolutely no one wants this. i can not think of a single person who wants this,’ a Twitter user wrote.

Another wrote ‘We are in the bad place,’ as they referenced the horror novel by Dean Koontz, while someone else remarked: ‘Was literally NO ONE else available to host?’

And others were quick to say ‘SNL has really fallen off,’ while another snarky patron wrote: ‘OK amplify billionaires voices lol.’

And a more bold Twitter user took a dig at Musk’s character as he shared a photo of him with now disgraced Jeffrey Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell and wrote ‘This guy?’

Though visionary, Musk has become a controversial figure on account of his out of the box business moves and his often ludicrous Twitter antics.

He has shot himself in the foot on more than one occasion after going off on everything from his Tesla stock pricing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In May 2020 he tweeted: ‘Tesla stock price is too high imo,’ which wiped $14B off the company’s value, as angry people fired back that his statements caused them to lose thousands.

In response to the COVID-19 lockdown he tweeted ‘FREE AMERICA NOW,’ and some began to dub him ‘Elon Mask.’

And the marijuana-toking business mogul jeopardized his business again when he made what he dubbed a joke on the novelty holiday 4/20, writing: ‘Am considering taking Tesla private at $420. Funding secured.’

That tweet garnered a lawsuit from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and required him to pay a $20M settlement fine, in addition to being forced to step down as chairman of Tesla’s board of directors for three years.
