Elon Musk attacked by Bill Gates' beloved scientist who branded Mars plans ‘delusional’

Mr Musk’s aspirations to “extend consciousness beyond Earth” is being developed by his dedicated company, SpaceX. The company revealed plans for reaching Mars, which Mr Musk intends to make liveable for humans. Vaclav Smil is a well-known author of dozens of books on a variety of scientific subjects.

He called Mr Musk’s plans “delusional” in a recently released documentary on Bill Gates called ‘Inside Bill’s Brain: Decoding Bill Gates’.

Mr Gates is spending billions on solving some of the world’s biggest problems such as disease, sustainable-energy solutions and climate change.

He revealed he studies the work of Mr Smil and has read every one of his books.

The scientist was interviewed in the documentary and revealed he wasn’t a fan of Mr Musk’s plans to advance humanity in the stars.

He also added people should be worried about climate change after being asked is there should be concerns on the topic.

Mr Smil said: “Absolutely because it’s the only planet we have, you know.

“You have to be a delusional Elon Musk to think that we can terraform Mars and leave this planet.

“We will never leave this planet.”

“He spent his whole life building a framework of energy by studying every little topic.”

Mr Musk has repeatedly spoken of plans to move humanity to the stars.

He specifically wants to make Mars a habitable planet through terraforming.

During August, Mr Musk tweeted “Nuke Mars”.

It was a reference to his idea of shooting nuclear weapons at the two poles of Mars.

The theory is it would help warm the planet and create an atmosphere that’s liveable for humanity.

Last week, Mr Musk unveiled a new rocket, the Starship MK1, intended to help fulfil his goal of a permanent settlement on Mars.

Presenter of YouTube channel Everyday Astronaut Tim Dodd was given the opportunity to pick the billionaire’s brain after he gave a presentation on the new rocket.

Mr Musk revealed how his company was able to move forward at such a fast pace, trumping the likes of NASA and Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic.

He said: “I think I’ve learned a lot of lessons about how to make things go fast.

“And then I’ve propagated those lessons to the SpaceX team and there’s just like an incredibly talented hardworking team at SpaceX.

“But there’s this very talented group that works super hard and they have to take the general approach of, if something is taking too long, the design is wrong.”
