But it seemed that Ellie Goulding was heading Stateside to ring in 2020 and celebrate her birthday in style, as she touched down in Miami International Airport on Saturday with her husband Caspar Jopling.
The British singer – who turns 33 on Monday – cut a casual figure in black sportswear as she strolled through the terminal, following the news that she reached the number one spot with her cover of Joni Mitchell’s River.

Ellie opted for comfort during her lengthy flight as she headed through the terminal, opting for a comfy black t-shirt and matching velour tracksuit bottoms, but added a fun twist by teaming her white trainers with rainbow laces.
The Burn hitmaker hid her blonde waved tresses under a baseball cap and opted to go makeup free as she wheeled her luggage through the terminal.
It appeared that Ellie and Caspar were heading to Florida to celebrate their first New Year as a married couple, after they tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in York in August.

Sharing a video of Ellie getting stuck in, they tweeted: ‘It was wonderful to have @elliegoulding at our North London residential centre yesterday – serving tea, chatting to guests and generally mucking in.’
They sweetly added: ‘An early Christmas present for our guests and volunteers!’
In the video, a fellow volunteer describes Ellie’s visit to the centre as they sweetly reveal that she ‘fitted in well’ with the rest of the team.

They say: ‘We were just doing our regular jobs serving tea and coffee when, suddenly, Ellie Goulding came out of the blue. We were just so shocked, like, I really didn’t know how to react.
‘I mean, she was really, really nice and friendly. She offered to help make tea and coffee for everybody else. She just wanted to help out generally and get involved. She fitted in quite well with the rest of the teal really quickly!’
Ellie and her husband Caspar tied the knot in York at the end of August in a lavish ceremony that was attended by the likes of Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom, Sienna Miller, James Blunt and the singer’s close pal Princess Beatrice and her sister Eugenie.
