Ellie Goulding and husband Caspar Jopling welcome first child: ‘Mum and baby are healthy and happy’

Congratulations to Ellie Goulding and her husband Caspar Jopling as they have welcomed their first child together.

Art dealer Caspar confirmed the happy news on Instagram, sharing that Ellie and their new little bundle of joy are both ‘healthy and happy’.

He posted a picture on his Stories of a bouquet of flowers, adding that he is ‘extremely grateful’.

Asking fans to give his newly expanded family privacy, he said: ‘Mum and baby both healthy and happy 🙂 Extremely grateful.’

He added: ‘I don’t ever address the public attention that comes with Ellie’s job, but during this magical and personal moment we would really appreciate being able to enjoy our privacy…thank you X’.

It comes after the Love Me Like You Do singer revealed to Vogue she found out she was expecting when the couple went overseas for their first wedding anniversary.

Ellie, 34, admitted that she hadn’t been planning on getting pregnant, but gushed that now she is, she feels ‘human’.

‘That was not the plan. The thought of getting pregnant didn’t seem like it could be a reality,’ she admitted, adding: ‘Becoming pregnant kind of made me feel human.’

She continued: ‘I want a better word than womanly, [but] I have curves I’ve never had before. I’m enjoying it. My husband’s enjoying it.’

The star kept her bump hidden for six months as she waited to tell the world about their baby joy.

Appearing on Sunday Brunch after her baby announcement, Ellie joked she ‘stold my husband’s coat for about six months’.

‘But that was really just in the shops, I didn’t go anywhere else,’ she added. ‘Out on walks, I just kept it covered up. It wasn’t really that hard, though, because of lockdown, I haven’t really seen anyone.’

The pop star and art dealer Caspar wed in August 2019 at York Minister, with the likes of Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom among the guests.
