Elle Fanning has revealed that her sister, Dakota Fanning, was the inspiration behind her becoming an actress.
The actress has appeared on the front cover of the November issue of Tatler magazine, rocking a yellow Carolina Herrera dress and headscarf designed by Julia Clancey.
And she admitted that she was inspired to follow in her sister’s footsteps after seeing her act as a young child, with the two re-enacting scenes at home.
‘Well, I saw my sister doing it and I was a huge ham growing up,’ she revealed.
‘We would constantly put on these scenes around the house. It wasn’t for anyone, only for ourselves.
‘We would do lines, characters, it was very funny. It just felt right at home for us.’
The 21-year-old also said she and her older sister ‘weren’t supposed to do this at all’, revealing that they were supposed to play ‘tennis or something’ due to their parents’ background in sports.
Elle also addressed the ‘stigma’ surrounding women in the workplace, and how those working in Hollywood are expected to look and act a certain way.
‘There is a stigma placed on women in any workplace. But especially in Hollywood,’ she continued.
‘You must be super competitive and super jealous. And it’s something that people want to project, but it’s actually not the case.’
The star is gearing up for the release of her latest movie, Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil, which is a sequel to 2014’s Maleficent.
Elle is set to appear as Princess Aurora, as the film explores the rivalry between the Princess and the title character (Angelina Jolie).
Discussing the role, she has said that Aurora ‘represents the youth of the generation who is accepting to all’ and believes that she sends across a strong message to woman throughout the film.
