A tweet by professional Apex Legends player Gabe “gabeismon” Brunelle  shows that Electronic Arts is “…refunding every individual up to $1500 [USD] in travel costs for the postponing of the major. Happy to see them do this for those that paid out of pocket without org support.”

The tweet was in response to competitors that were to participate in the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) Major One. Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment have come forward and confirmed reimbursements will be provided to all non-refundable purchases made by all players that were to attend the ALGS Major One event.

The Apex Legends Global Series Major One was set to take place at the Esports Stadium Arlington, in Arlington, Texas from March 13-15. However, the tournament was postponed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

According to several players that were due to participate, John Nelson, senior director and commissioner of Apex Legends Competitive Gaming, sent an email out to all competitors outlining the parameters in which reimbursements would be issued. Players simply need to provide proof of their personal, non-refundable, travel-related costs associated with the major including:

  • Air-rail, and/or ground transportation.
  • Hotel and/or other accommodations
  • Travel documentation (such as visas)
  • Cancellations/change fees

League operations did not respond when asked for comment by The Esports Observer.
